2018 started with anticipation and hope of new beginnings. Courage was my one word that I chose for the year. I have let fear stop me from doing many things throughout my life. I can think of countless opportunities in my life that I let pass by or take longer than anticipated because I was too afraid of the unknown. Ending 2017 with the completion of my Masters in School Administration, I went into 2018 with great strength and determination to conquer all things. I wanted change and I wanted to be the change. I was tired of being afraid and I knew that I needed to focus on Courage.
COURAGE– I spoke the word. I shared the word. I put it on my vision board. I bought a sign with the word on it. I got a necklace with courage written on it. And lastly, I shared my vision of the word with my family, friends and students. I talked about stepping out of my comfort zone and taking risks. Every time I was overcome with fear, I reminded myself of this word and I faced the fear. I met it head on and the results were out of this world.
Did these moments all result in success? NO!
Were some of these moments filled with disappointment? YES!
Were some of these moments complete failures? YES!
Were there successes? YES!
Was each moment of Courage worth the result- good or bad? YES, most definitely!
I tell my own children and my students that they need to step out of their comfort zones and face their fears in order to have success. I discuss with them how failure and mistakes help us to grow and learn. The most successful people have failed countless times before they reached their success. I finally started to listen to my words and put them into actions.
2018 was a start for me; a year of transformation.
Am I where I want to be? NO! I have just started!
Courage has started me on this road to success. I am so grateful for 2018 and the changes that have happened to me and my life. I am thankful for my family and friends who pushed me, inspired me and encouraged me.
Courage led to many things for me…… especially GRATITUDE.
GRATITUDE is my #OneWord2019!
I will continue to be courageous with a grateful heart!
